Hammersmith and Fulham showed an overall reduction of 22.3% in MOPAC 7 crime which amounts to approximately 2,413 fewer victims. This supports an overall West Cluster and MPS reduction achieving the 4 year MOPAC challenge. Hammersmith and Fulham had reductions of 31.8% for burglary, which is over 700 less victims 56.7% for robbery, 32.1 % for theft from motor vehicle and a 36. 6 % reduction in theft person. There has been a slight rise in Theft of Motor vehicle and also a rise in violence with injury offences however the borough as a whole is looking at ways to support a reduction in these offences over the coming months by targeting known offenders, further analysis of our night time economy and working with our partnership agencies.
Satisfaction and confidence in the police remains high across Hammersmith and Fulham but there is still work to be done to make this even higher and we will continue to work with victims and our partners to continue to build trust and confidence in their local policing teams so that we can provide the best service possible and be a police service that the community can continue to respect and be proud of.
In October 2015 a number of sex offences were linked around the Brook Green area. Through investigation, including good preservation of forensic evidence by ERPT officers in their role as IIO and secondary investigation by CID officers looking wider than the UK identified the offender as a German national that would regularly visit the UK to watch his beloved Fulham FC. He was circulated as wanted and arrested by Essex at Stansted on his next football trip. He was subsequently charged and remanded in custody. It has also been established that he has carried out similar attacks in Germany.
Another busy period for the cops on Hammersmith response team, really good to see this mixed in with some proactive work by E team supported by colleagues from the North NPT. These officers executed a drugs warrant after acting on intelligence received from the local community around drug use and associated Anti Social Behaviour. During this operation officers recovered what is believed to be between 30 40 wraps of class A drugs, this resulted in the arrest of four suspects who are currently on bail. Another excellent work of my officers pro activity was the arrests made by PCs Morgan and Jutla for a well known local individual who was trying to steal items from inside a car in the W6 area. The officers managed to stop and arrest the male , on searching him he was also found to be in possession of a knife.
The variety of work carried out by response teams varies day to day and it is amazing to see the challenges that it presents. The officers put them selves at the forefront of keeping the residents of Hammersmith and Fulham safe. The stories I heard range from extensive first aid being carried out on people who are hurt, dealing with people who are unwell who try to hurt themselves to officers from Team 1 chasing suspects who are stealing from cars and getting a lift in a bin lorry. Some great work by outstanding people.
