Hammersmith & Fulham The Citizens’ Advice Bureau in Hammersmith & Fulham may have to build a trophy cabinet after winning another award for its service.
The office at 338 Uxbridge Road, Shepherds Bush, beat 310 other bureaux up and down the country to triumph in the Access for All prize at the national CAB conference in Warwick.
It recognises the fact that advice is not only dispensed face to face, but also increasingly online and by telephone.
“It has only been possible because of the investment in our service that makes it possible for us to help 8,000 clients every year,” said a delighted chief executive Simi Ryatt (pictured right).
It is the second year running that the H&F CAB has done well. Last year it won the gong for Financial Skills for Life, recognition for the dozen different financial advice projects run in the borough.
By expanding the advice available online, the bureau in Uxbridge Road is accessible round the clock at www.hfcab.org.uk, in addition to the traditional meetings with advisers, and telephone help.
The bureau is staffed by a rota of 130 volunteers, delivering help in 14 different languages.
“The CAB provide a fantastic service,” said Cllr Sue Fennimore, H&F Cabinet Member for Social Inclusion. “Their hard work and dedication in supporting and representing residents continues to be exemplary and this award is both well-deserved and testament to their long commitment to serving the people of the borough.”
Popular services include money management skills (via the Financial Capability training programmes) and the digital champion programme, providing computer skill training and support.
Avonmore Library offers CAB and library services, plus access to arts, culture and employment through a range of events celebrating the cultural diversity of their community.
