Results of London Elections to Be Announced from Around 3pm

Assembly results coming this afternoon, new mayor announced this evening

After yesterday's London elections, vote counting began at 8am on Friday morning, with the first results due to be announced from around 3pm.

The London Assembly has 25 seats for political representatives to be elected to, with the majority of seats expected to be declared from mid-afternoon.

Of these 25 seats, 14 based on individual constituencies will be announced before the new mayor is unveiled.

Hammersmith and Fulham is part of the West Central constituency and you can see details of the local candidates below.

The remaining 11 seats, which will be chosen by using proportional representation, will be declared after the new mayor has been elected.

Counting votes for the new Mayor of London is also underway, with the result expected to be announced this evening, sometime between 5pm and 10pm.

In West Central, which includes the boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea, and Westminster, the candidates were:

DEVENISH, Tony - The Conservative Party Candidate

Tony has represented Knightsbridge and Belgravia on Westminster City Council since May 2006. Currently he is Senior Planning Chairman on the Council and Chairman of the Westco , the trading arm of the City Council.

Tony’s council ward shares both a physical border with RBKC and similar issues to much of West Central (over-development, transport and low level nuisance) he has a track record over the last decade of successfully delivering results working with councillors, council officers and residents.

Outside politics Tony has a 25 year career in infrastructure - property. Formally one of the youngest General Manager’s overseas in the Middle and Far East for Rolls-Royce (power generation). He is now self-employed, allowing him the flexibility to represent local people.

MULLIN, Annabel Jean Charlotte - London Liberal Democrats

Annabel’s expertise and specialism is the criminal justice system, not only does she have explicit practical experience of working with the law and administering it but is also currently pursuing a doctorate in criminal behaviour. Annabel has spent most of her adult life working in Central London whether as a PricewaterhouseCoopers analyst in Holborn, a Met. police officer in Soho and Mayfair, as an assistant psychologist with prisoners with severe and enduring mental illness or more recently as a PhD researcher at University College London in Bloomsbury and as a magistrate sitting in, amongst other places, Hammersmith and Westminster Courts.

Annabel has worked with the Liberal Democrats since 2008 and is committed to the party. She has a focus on motivating people towards the Liberal Democrat cause, particularly as London is The liberal city. A member of the Lib Dem Security and Liberty Working Group, Annabel’s motivation is providing a visionary approach to balancing data protection but also realistic responses to the needs of criminal justice agencies and the security services.

Annabel lived in Kensington and Chelsea as a child going to a local nursery and then primary school just off the Kings Road; She then completed her secondary education in Hammersmith. She attended Bristol University, UWE and gained an MSc Psychology from UEL. Annabel now lives in Lambeth with her husband and young children.

NADEL, Jennifer Dunham - Green Party

Jennifer works in the constituency and lives five minutes walk from its border. The daughter of a refugee, she is a writer, artist and activist who campaigns on climate change and human rights. She is a qualified barrister and worked as a journalist for many years reporting on issues of social justice on national television and radio.  She is currently a PhD student at Goldsmiths and her first novel is being published this year. She has three sons.

She believes that there is an alternative to the other parties' policy of austerity and that it is both morally wrong and economically flawed to make the people least responsible for the current financial crisis foot the bill. 

"It is utterly unacceptable that 43% of children in Westminster North are living in poverty - among the highest levels in the UK," Jennifer says. " Under the Con-Dems, and before them Labour, the gap between rich and poor has rocketed with devastating effects for the whole of society. The Greens are the only party who would scrap tuition fees, take the railways back into public ownership and keep the NHS safe."

RICHARDS, Mandy Marie - Labour Party

" I have lived and worked across the communities of London for over fifteen years. As a teacher, journalist, youth justice caseworker and Labour & UNISON activist, I’m keenly aware of how current Government policy is impacting locally on jobs, community policing, local business, transport costs, housing, education and health care.

" In particular, the threatened cuts to NHS services have promoted a collective anxiety that has to be further addressed along with the raft of Coalition cuts hitting working families and the most vulnerable hardest.

" I will continue to be a catalyst for community campaigning, encouraging more cross-cultural engagement within our Jewish, Cypriot, Muslim & African Caribbean communities. Enlisting all our members and supporters to fight on in our bid to protect and strengthen community policing, promote regeneration and social enterprise, working towards real community cohesion by building trust and engaging young people as well as disenfranchised voters through inclusive politics.

EGAN, Clive Keith - UK Independence Party (UKIP)

" I have lived in London all my adult life mostly in Kensington and Westminster since coming here in my youth from Margate in Kent to take a History degree at London University.

" After an MBA in Finance I have worked in financial services, financial journalism, and currently work for a strategy consultancy firm based in the constituency. As a result of this I am very keen on the continued success of the City of London and believe it has a far better future not restricted by regulationsemanating from Brussels and sponsored by its competitors on the Continent."
