Limited operation to begin with restrictions based on car number plates
The Smugglers Way Household Waste and Recycling Centre is going to reopen to the public on a limited basis from next Monday 11 May. Only garden waste and recycling waste will be allowed and there will be additional restrictions based on car registrations.
The Western Riverside Waste Authority (WRWA) , who manage recycling services in Wandsworth and Hammersmith & Fulham boroughs, say they have decided to do this following the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) publishing new guidance this Tuesday. The Cringle Dock Household Waste and Recycling Centres will also open.
The DEFRA guidance says that it would be reasonable for residents to undertake a journey to Recycling Centres if the waste or recycling can’t be stored on their property without causing a risk of injury, health or harm to the resident or other members of their household or harm to public health and amenity.
The WRWA have introduced measures to keep residents and staff safe and to reduce queues. You should only visit if you cannot store your waste without causing a risk of injury, health or harm and you should not come to the recycling centre
If you are unwell with symptoms of coronavirus. You are advised to wear gloves for your own protection.
For Smugglers Way you can only visit on certain days, depending on your car registration number and at the times give below.
