Annual race sees both amateur and professional cyclists race through borough
The Prudential RideLondon cycling events is underway today, Sunday 29 July on closed roads in east, central and south-west London, and in parts of Surrey.
These events are taking place in London and Surrey:
In our borough, cyclists are racing outward along Talgarth Road, Hammersmith Flyover and Great West Road. Local roads were closed from 6am with amateur riders coming through around 6.20am. The action resumes in early afternoon with professionals coming through around 1.55pm.
Roads are scheduled to reopen around 2.45pm.
One the return journey, cyclists are riding north across Putney Bridge and up New Kings and Kings Roads. Local roads were closed from 7.30am with amateur riders coming though from around 9.40am. Professional riders are set to reach Fulham from around 5.55pm.
Roads are scheduled to reopen around 7.30pm.
Traffic, as expected is slow, particularly on the eastbound lane of Fulham Road,
TfL says many buses are on diversion or stopping short of their destinations and some may be affected by traffic displaced by road closures.
There are extensive road closures on and around the routes, but pedestrian access to properties is not affected.
A number of bridges across the Thames are closed, as shown below.
You can see full details of these closures, plus access to surrounding roads and crossing points on the TfL website.
