Transport for London has confirmed that Barons Court Tube station will undergo a series of platform closures over the next two years as part of a major refurbishment of the Grade II-listed site.
From 19 January until early June 2026, eastbound District and Piccadilly line trains will not stop at Barons Court. Passengers heading towards central London via Earl’s Court will need to use nearby stations such as West Kensington or Hammersmith.
The disruption will then switch sides. From mid-July 2026 until the end of that year, westbound services towards Ealing Broadway, Richmond, Heathrow Airport, Uxbridge and Rayners Lane will bypass the station.
Trains will continue to run through Barons Court, but without stopping.
Recognising the station’s role during the annual Queens Tennis Tournament, TfL has confirmed that both platforms will temporarily reopen between 6 and 21 June 2026. However, passengers should note that separate track closures are planned for 13 and 14 June, potentially affecting travel during the event.
When refurbishment began in February 2025, TfL initially promised the station would remain fully operational throughout. But in early December, officials admitted that “more extensive repairs were needed” and that closures were unavoidable.
The works include replacing worn platform edges and restoring the station’s distinctive ticket hall, with its green glazed tiles and cream walls.
Barons Court, which first opened in 1905, is expected to return to full operation by spring 2027 once the refurbishment is complete.
TfL has apologised for the disruption and advised passengers to plan ahead, particularly during the extended closures in 2026.
