Roads and station closed due to earlier security alert
The District and Piccadilly line station at Hammersmith Broadway was closed earlier today due to a security alert.
Reportedly a controlled explosion has been carried out on a suspicious package. Unconfirmed reports are claiming that the suspect objects had turned out to be three abandoned fire extinguishers.
Chief Superintendent Ali Dizaei, said, "These are the kinds of challenges we face in London every day. We can't afford to take any chances."
Barons Court Station on the District and Piccadilly Lines in both directions was closed due to overcrowding. The Hammersmith and City line station at Hammersmith was also closed.
On the roads eastbound, Hammersmith Broadway was closed between King Street and Shepherd's Bush Road.
All roads are now reportedly reopened but traffic in the area remains heavy.
