Around 50 volunteers helped clean up the Japanese Garden in Hammersmith Park. "The Garden had been totally overgrown, not having any trace of a Japanese garden at all before the work," said Dr. Ayako Hotta-Lister, a member of the Japan-British Exhibition 100. "With the help of enthusiastic volunteers, we can now see the stones and Garden features more clearly so that in future, it will be easier to assess what else needs to be done to restore it as far as possible to its original form, which is our ultimate aim." The pond was also drained as part of the work.
