Policeman pushed thru plate glass window

Incident took place on New Year's Day in Flora Gardens

A male Police Constable in his 50's- one of two officers attempting to make an arrest in Flora Gardens, W6 on New Year's Day, has been pushed through a 6 feet by 4 feet plate glass window.

The officer was taken to a London hospital where he is being treated for injuries including a dislocated shoulder. His injuries are fortunately not believed to be life-threatening.

A police spokesman said "At the start of the New Year, this highlights once again the day to day dangers that MPS Officers face when making routine inquiries or attempting to make arrests. The plate glass window had reinforced wire bracing and the result of this could have been far worse. We are grateful this Officer has survived such a reckless incident."

Following the assault, a male suspect was restrained by use of CS Gas, which is deployed in cases where serious injury may otherwise occur. The suspect also received hospital treatment for minor injuries. A man aged 29 has been arrested in connection with Grevious Bodily Harm and the Assault of a Police Officer.
