Disco Fight Ends with Arrest

Man in hospital after assault in Hammersmith Palais

Police are looking for witnesses to an altercation that took place on the dance floor of the Hammersmith Palais on Shepherd's Bush Road on the 21st October.

A 31 year old man was left severely concussed with cuts and bruises to his face after an assault which took place at 2.10am.

He had been dancing with a woman when another man approached him and punched him in the head. He fell to the floor and the suspect had then punched him again. This left him unconscious and the police initially feared the injuries were life threatening.

He was immediately taken to New Charing Cross Hospital where there was grave concern due to severe head injury with lacerations to the face. Subsequently he regained consciousness and the injuries not as bad as first thought.

The victim has subsequently been discharged from hospital after being kept in for observation. The suspect had been detained by security staff at the venue and was arrested by police.

A 24-year-old male is now helping police with their enquiries. Any witnesses or information to PC Benson at Hammersmith CID or Crime Management Unit at Fulham Police Station on 020 8246 2814
