An appeal is being made by police for witnesses after they received a report of a sexual assault on a 3-year-old girl in Hammersmith.

The alleged incident tool place at around 5pm on Friday, 8 October after the girl was approached by a male stranger.

Specialist officers are providing support to the victim and her family.

The police are strongly encouraging members of the public not to share images of the alleged attacker or speculate about his identity online as this could undermine and jeopardise the police investigation and any subsequent prosecution.

Detective Constable Watkins, of Central West BCU, who is leading the investigation, said, "We understand this will cause concern among the community. We wish to reassure the public that there is an increased police presence in the area and the matter is being thoroughly investigated. There will be patrols in Brook Green and the surrounding area particularly around school and nursery finish times.

“We are appealing for witnesses who were in the area at this time who may have witnessed anything deemed suspicious or out of place. At this time the person responsible remains unidentified.”
