A 39-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murdering a woman in Hammersmith.
Apapale Adoum, of no fixed address, appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 6 June. He was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 10 June.
He is accused of killing 36-year-old Victoria Adams at her home on Coulter Road in Brackenbury Village on Sunday, 9 February.
The police were called to the address at around 10:13pm to reports of a man trying to break into one of the flats. When officers gained entry, they found Ms Adams dead face down in her bedroom apparently from a head injury.
Mr Adoum was arrested at the scene.
A hearing at the Old Bailey was told that Ms Adams had invited Mr Adoum to stay at her home after meeting him at a homeless shelter on 6 February. She later left a note asking him to leave. The prosecution alleges he attacked her with a mallet striking her on the back and side of the head ten times. The mallet has been recovered and was found to have Ms Adams DNA on it.
The defendant was remanded into custody until a plea hearing on 26 August with a three week trial date provisionally set for March next year.
