CCTV footage has been issued by detectives investigating a report of a sexual assault on Hammersmith Grove.

A woman in her thirties told police that she was attacked by a man at around 3:40am on Sunday 18 May. She is currently being supported by specialist officers.

She has been followed by a man as she walked along the road past Hammersmith Underground station. After he sexually assaulted her, he ran off back towards Hammersmith Broadway.

The man was seen later that morning in the Ealing running north on Park Road towards Browning Avenue before heading into a residential area.

Police have released a short video of a man they wish to identify entering the District and Piccadilly line station by the Queen Caroline Street entrance 20 minutes before the attack. Analysis of CCTV footage showed that he had walked along King Street.

He is described as white, in his twenties and 5ft 8in to 6ft tall. He has dark hair and was wearing a black North Face jacket, black trousers and white trainers.

Detective Superintendent Lucy O’Connor, leading the Met’s investigation, said, “Women and girls should be safe to walk the streets of London without being attacked. That is why we need to identify a man in connection with this incident and are now asking the public to help.

“If you were in the area on the morning of Sunday, 18 May or if you recognise the man in the footage, please contact us as soon as possible.”
