A Hammersmith man identified by police in connection with a series of car break‑ins has been issued with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) aimed at curbing further offending.

Ricky Newman, 30, was traced through CCTV footage following multiple vehicle break‑ins across the area. He has now been sentenced to community and rehabilitation orders and ordered to pay compensation to victims. Officers also applied for a CBO to address his pattern of offending, which was granted by the court.

Newman’s history of offending stretches back to his teenage years, when he received an ASBO for breaking into a black cab. The newly imposed CBO places strict conditions on his movements and the items he may carry in public.

Under the order, Newman is prohibited from entering the London Borough of Hounslow — specifically Chiswick — unless attending pre‑booked probation or medical appointments, or meetings with Hounslow Council. In those cases, he must carry written proof of the appointment.

The order also restricts him from possessing a range of items without clear evidence of ownership or permission. These include:

  • Any bag or carry‑all containing retail goods worth more than £50 in their original packaging, unless he can show proof of purchase.
  • Any documents, identification or bank cards not in his name, unless he has verifiable permission from the owner.
  • Any electronic device not registered on the national property database, Immobilise, with proof of ownership.
  • Any electric scooter not registered with the DVLA.
  • Any pushbike or e‑bike not registered on BikeRegister, unless it is a hired bike and he can show proof of hire.
  • Any glass breakers, hammers or bricks in a public place or vehicle, unless they are issued by his employer and being used during the course of his work.
Officers say the order is designed to prevent further offending and protect residents, following a pattern of acquisitive crime linked to Newman
