Farmer J, a new restaurant serving up freshly prepared food on what it calls ”fieldtrays” opens its doors this week at 10 Hammersmith Grove, opposite Lyric Square.

As we revealed in spring, Farmer J has taken over the ground and mezzanine floors of the building, as well as the outdoor space in front.

After months of preparation, the restaurant announced that it will be opening on Wednesday 31 July at 7.30am, adding: “ See you at the farm.”

Farmer J, which already has ten restaurants open across the City of London and West End, promises “forking good food”, freshly prepared and cooked. Its signature dish is its fieldtray, offering customers their own choice of base, such as grains or brown rice, main dish from a range including charred harissa chicken, gochujang salmon or for veggies, lime leaf tofu curry plus a side dish from a choice including spiced date sweet potatoes, whole roasted cauliflower, almond caesar or green chickpea tahini.

The less decisive can choose ready selected salad bowls, and there is a separate breakfast menu, including a range of double egg pots, porridge, toast and tolls. As well as coffee and tea, the drinks menu includes kombucha, green juice and Trip CBD.

You can view the whole menu here.

The chain was launched by ex City banker Jonathan Recanati, who says he became fed up eating bland meals and left to create the new company ten years ago. His aim is to create “ a meal that is healthy without preaching, delicious but not expensive, and never, ever boring.

“Unlike many other food spots, when you come into Farmer J, you will not be faced with a wall of products just sitting, being kept warm under the heated lights. We prioritise freshness and 90% of our food is made on-site.”

The new restaurant, which sits next door to Bill’s, will be open seven days a week, from 7.30am till 12.30am from Monday to Saturday and from 10am till 12.30am on Sunday.

As well as local shoppers, Farmer J has hundreds of potential customers working within 10 Hammersmith Grove. The 11 year old nine storey office building houses a number of major companies including UKTV, Accor Hotels and tobacco giant Philip Morris

Ahead of the launch, the restaurant is inviting local people to sign up as “Founding Farmers” and claim a free Fieldtray here.
