A performance by an Abba tribute act is one of the events happening in Hammersmith later this month to mark the opening of 'LIVAT Hammersmith' the new name for the Kings Mall Shopping Centre.

Running from the 24-27 February the events include a Grand Opening event, Feel Good Friday and Family Funanza. -.

In addition an immersive Swedish Experience will be running from 24 February to 5 March. Free to attend, visitors will be treated to a multi-sensory experience, featuring snowy winter scenes as well as projections of the Northern Lights.

For those who want to embrace the Swedish way of life even further, a series of talks on the concept of ‘Lagom’ and how to live a more sustainable and simple lifestyle (in partnership with IKEA) will be available to pre book online.

Thursday 24 February will see the kick-off Grand Opening event, featuring musical performances from local professionals - including a steel band and the ABBA tribute band - and pop-up mocktail bar, all of which can be experienced whilst enjoying entertainment from a colourful parade of stilt walkers running through the streets of Hammersmith throughout the day.

On 25 February (‘Feel Good Friday’) informal talks on mental wellbeing, advice from life coaches will be offered. There will also be bookable wellbeing classes focused on mindfulness, breathing and simple stretching.

Families will also be catered for, with the ‘Family Funanza’ on 26 February with face painters, magicians and superheroes, as well as being able to spend time with Wildlife expert Nick Barker who will be on hand to teach children about all the exciting bugs, insects and animals they can find in and around the green spaces within Hammersmith. To top off the day children will be able to make their own biodegradable slime before being part of a teddy bears picnic full of tasty treats.

To finish the weekend off - and celebrate the heritage of the Lyric Theatre which is next to the centre - there will be a display of some costumes and show memorabilia in a pop-up gallery. Visitors will also get the chance to get involved in the action using a green screen photo opportunity that will put you at centre stage. Not only will there be artefacts for the past, the Lyric theatre will also be showcasing some of their Little Lyric children’s shows.

There will also be chances for visitors to win prizes at all stages through the ‘Spin to Vinna’ - a Swedish game based on the classic ‘Spin to Win’ game.
