Black Sheep Coffee will be opening in Hammersmith later this month, as the fast-growing chain prepares to open a two-storey café inside the Livat Hammersmith development on King Street. The new site, launching on Tuesday 30 June, will offer around 118 covers across its two floors, with additional outdoor seating spilling onto the pedestrianised frontage.
For Hammersmith, it marks the arrival of a brand that has become one of the most recognisable disruptors in the UK coffee scene. Founded in 2013 by university friends Gabriel Shohet and Eirik Holth, the company grew quickly from its first site near Charing Cross, expanding across central London before pushing into neighbourhood high streets and major transport hubs.
In recent years, west London has become one of the chain’s most active areas for expansion. Black Sheep already operates branches in Fulham Broadway and the Westfield Shopping Centre in Shepherd’s Bush, with additional openings planned. The Hammersmith site will be operated by a west London franchise partner working under a five-year development agreement to grow the brand across the region.
A spokesperson for the franchise group said the location felt like a natural fit. “Hammersmith is exactly the kind of location that suits Black Sheep Coffee because it has such a broad mix of people moving through the area every day. We’re focused on creating an accessible space for the local community, with great coffee, affordable options and an atmosphere that genuinely brings people together.”
The new café will be in Livat Hammersmith, the IKEA-anchored shopping and leisure centre that has steadily broadened its food and drink offer since opening in 2022.
Alongside its speciality coffees, the Hammersmith branch is expected to offer the chain’s familiar menu of smoothies, pastries, toasties and light bites, as well as its evening offer, which in many locations includes cocktails, craft beers and casual social events.
