Jack and the Beanstalk is being performed at the Lyric Theatre
November 3, 2025
Hammersmith’s Christmas celebrations will officially begin on Saturday 15 November with the Winter Festival taking place in Lyric Square and King Street along with the opening of this year’s pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk at the Lyric Hammersmith.
The Winter Festival, open from 10am till 4pm, will offer a pop up market with over 100 stalls selling gifts, crafts, jewellery, home accessories, boutique fashion and art, plus a seasonal food quarter, live music and street entertainment.
For this event, King Street will be traffic free, with local diversions and alterations to bus routes throughout the day. Full details here.
Saturday 15 November is also the opening date for the Lyric Hammersmith’s ever popular pantomime, this year bringing back Jack and the Beanstalk, with loveable hero Jack, played by Joey James, embarking on a mission of gigantic proportions, way into the clouds, to defeat his newfound nemesis and save the people of Hammersmith.
The duo behind last year’s smash-hit sellout Aladdin, writer Sonia Jalaly and director Nicholai La Barrie are also back, presenting a show-stopping musical medley, jaw-dropping magic and festive fun and laughs.
Alongside the pantomime, The Lyric will present its annual treat for smaller children, Raymond Briggs’ Father Christmas. Join Santa as he awakes from a dream of sun, sea and sand only to find it is the busiest day of the year - Christmas Eve.
This Lyric family favourite, co-produced with the Olivier Award-nominated Pins & Needles Productions, opens on Wednesday 19 November and runs till Christmas Eve.
The Lyric is also presenting three special seasonal events in December - two Christmas Comedy Nights, on 1 and 15 December and A Merry Lyric Christmas, an evening of festive fun and fundraising on 8 December.
The Lyric says its ticket prices increase with demand so advises people to book early to avoid disappointment. Find out more and book your seat.
On Wednesday 19 November, Lyric Square will host another festive highlight - Hammersmith’s annual Christmas Tree Switch On.
Join the Mayor and a special guest from the Lyric Hammersmith as they turn on the Christmas tree lights, accompanied by live music and entertainment, including Christmas classics performed by the Steel Pan Band Trust followed by carols sung by West London Choir.
To add to the festivities, Outsider Tart will be warming up the crowds by serving mulled wine, while stocks last. The big switch on will take place in the square from 5.30pm till 8pm and everyone is welcome to join the fun.
