What The Fish in Hammersmith has been named as one of the ten best fish & chip restaurants in country.

Trade publication Fry Magazine paid a mystery visit to the branch on King Street with an anonymous judge sampling the food and assessing key aspects of the business from the cleanliness of the premises to staff knowledge and professionalism to social media presence.

As a result it features in the magazine’s list of the UK’s 10 Best Fish & Chip Restaurants 2021/2022 - the only dine-in chippy in the London to make the list.

With the pass mark set high at 95%, What The Fish scored 99% with the mystery diner particularly praising the cook to order and services. The branch was praised for having no scraps in its portions.

Bulent Akkaya, Owner, of What The Fish, said: “This is our 1st time and it’s an honour to make it to the list. Working all through COVID we thank all our customers who have supported us.”

Reece Head, competition organiser, comments, “Making the UK’s 10 Best Fish and Chip Restaurants is no easy feat, there are a lot of factors we take into consideration but these restaurants have proved that, despite the recent challenges, they have what it takes to survive. From friendly, knowledgeable team members to top quality, value for money fish and chips, they are pushing the fish and chip industry forwards. We congratulate them on being one of the UK’s 10 Best Fish and Chip Restaurants.”

Fry Magazine’s 10 Best Fish & Chip Restaurants is in its ninth year.

What The Fish also has branches on Shepherd’s Bush Road, Acton and Sheen.
