A new Chinese restaurant, Master Wei, has opened at 245 Hammersmith Road, east of Hammersmith Broadway.

Run by chef Guirong Wei, already has an award winning restaurant in Bloomsbury serving Xi'an cuisine, which originates in the Shaanxi province of China and offers strongly flavoured dishes, often using noodles rather than rice.

Among its specialities are its signature hand-pulled beef or veggie Biangbiang noodles and a range of regional street snacks, including pork and beef burgers and a range of dumplings.

Master Wei is the third restaurant to open this year in the increasingly busy area to the east of Hammersmith Broadway. On the ground floor of the ‘big red’ office building 245 Hammersmith Road, it sits alongside Hammersmith’s glitziest restaurant, Turtle Bay which has proved hugely popular since opening in spring, with a Caribbean atmosphere and a mix of ‘ rum, reggae and jerk’.

In October it was joined by wine and seafood restaurant Faber across the street at 206 – 208 Hammersmith Road, offering a seasonal menu, created daily, showcasing fresh fish brought from local shores and waters.

Local office workers and shoppers in search of coffee and snacks are also well catered for, with independent cafes including The Lunch Box, serving Italian coffee and snacks at 134 Hammersmith Road, The Gentleman Baristas, open weekdays on the ground floor of 3 Shortlands and Store Street Expresso, open Monday to Friday within 245 Hammersmith Road, as well as branches of Caffe Nero and Starbucks.
