Families in Hammersmith are invited to take part in a free immersive experience this October half term, as Livat Hammersmith launches The Spells Kitchen, a hands-on event designed to engage children in the art of potion-making and wizardry.

Running from 27 October to 1 November, the 30-minute sessions offer children the chance to explore a medieval-style spells kitchen, mix potions, and learn about the history of spellcasting. Each participant will receive a graduation certificate and a small gift from IKEA Hammersmith, which hosts the event inside its Livat venue.

Sessions are free to book online, with walk-in slots available daily between 10am and 11am, subject to capacity. The programme also includes sensory-friendly SEN sessions on 29 and 30 October, tailored for children with additional needs. These sessions will feature reduced lighting, no PA system, and operate at half capacity to ensure a relaxed environment.

In addition to the spellcasting experience, families spending £20 or more at IKEA Hammersmith during the event period can enter a prize draw to win a Family Ticket to Harry Potter World at Warner Bros. Studio. Entries are accepted at the Spells Kitchen unit between 10am and 4pm, with the winner announced on 4 November.

The initiative is part of Livat Hammersmith’s seasonal programming aimed at providing accessible, family-friendly activities during school holidays.

Livat Hammersmith is located on King Street, W6 9HW.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
